Laine Welch is the owner and operator of Alaska Fish Factor based in
Kodiak, Alaska.  Fish Factor specializes in news and publicity for
Alaska's seafood industry. Laine has been covering the 'fish beat' for
print and broadcast for 25 years, starting in New England with daily
broadcasts of fish landings and prices from the Boston and New
Bedford fish auctions. Laine relocated to Alaska in 1986 and has
hosted radio programs and written for newspapers and trade journals
ever since. She also worked for many years “behind the counter” in
retail and wholesale seafood businesses in New England and Alaska.
